Do I Still Need A Business Card - Walrath Recruiting, Inc.

Do I Still Need A Business Card - Walrath Recruiting, Inc. The world has gone digital, and it may leave you wondering if you still need a business card. Business cards have been around for years, but is it possible their time has come? Well explore that question, and determine if business cards still have a place in the professional landscape.   First, lets look at the benefits of business cards. Theyve been one of the most powerful business tools for a long time now, but with the internet of things upon us, they may not remain the dominant networking tool. However, there are certain perks of business cards versus sharing information digitally. Nothing is as fast or efficient as handing out a business card. Although we do have technology (like the iPhones Air Drop) that allows for easy information sharing between smartphones, it only works between phones of the same brand. When you are trying to exchange information with someone, there is still nothing quicker than simply handing them a business card with all of your information on it. Not everyone has a smartphone or digital device. It may come as a shock, but there are still many people who dont use smartphones. Its not just those behind the times either, some industry titans like Warren Buffet choose not to use a smartphone. There are a number of professionals who have not started using smartphones yet. Without a business card, its going to be significantly more challenging to connect with those people. It makes you look more legitimate and trustworthy. If you are a business owner or an employee of a small business, having a business card demonstrates your brand presence. It can make potential customers and clients more trustworthy of your brand, and give it a sense of legitimacy. Talking about your brand is one thing, but having a card to back it up is another. Its a helpful tool for face to face networking. A lot of networking happens online, mainly on LinkedIn. However, there will always be times when it happens face to face. If you happen to strike up a conversation with someone who works in your same field, its a great opportunity to make a connection. Having a business card on hand makes that connection much more convenient. Its a great opportunity  to promote brand awareness in a unique way. Having a visually striking business card is a great way to make your business or personal brand stand out. If you work in a creative field, you have an especially powerful opportunity. For example, if you work in graphic design, having an impressive business cards speaks to your ability in your profession, and may encourage someone to enlist your business. So depending on your industry, a business card may present a unique opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills. While business cards may still be representative on an era that has passed by, they still have immense value in the professional world. While you may not need boxes of them waiting at home, it would certainly be beneficial to have a few to take along with you to any networking or professional events you attend. Its completely acceptable to focus on the digital side of networking and forming business connections, but you should always have a business card to offer when the opportunity presents itself.
